Greetings! Back in March, I went on a one-on-one retreat with just me and God! I was getting a little tired of my daily life of working, cooking, etc., so I decided to go on a mini excursion alone. By the time that I had booked the trip, I knew that I was going to just take some time to refresh and practice experiencing the presence of God.

Before I even made it to the airport, I began praying and asking God to lead each day of my vacation. It was one of the best vacations that I have ever experienced—right up there with a vacation that I once took with about 12 of my loved ones.

My real purpose for this retreat was to relax and not become overwhelmed with plans! I think we have all been at that place where we take a vacation, overload ourselves with to-do lists only to return home needing another vacation to recover from all the busyness. I wanted this vacation to be different, and I am so thankful that He obliged!

A retreat with God is a time of worship, prayer, and otherwise allowing Him to show me what He wants for my life. I spent time in prayer, meditating on the Bible, enjoying nature, and appreciating all the beauty that He has placed around us. It was about me and my Father loving one another and allowing Him full reign in my heart to fill me with His loving presence. I am reminded of Psalm 40:1 which reads, I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.

During our time together, He let me know that it is going to be okay. He will begin to take my emotional pain and use it for His glory. He will use my experiences to help others who have also experienced the pain of loss. Our God is mighty and never forget that. I said, NEVER FORGET THAT!

As we begin this journey of friendship and connection, I want you to take the first brave step of just asking Him to take some of the pain away. He can release it.
